ALL LEICA R DEVOTEES!

     Leica continues to declare its commitment to the R reflex line but has decided that the new S System, unveiled at Photokina to become available next summer, would take precedence. Much of the bedrock research and development work for the S System has laid the groundwork for the digital R camera as well.  

    We are now assured that the Leica R10 will indeed have a 24x36mm sensor and that it will be compatible with current R lenses.  Like the S2, the R10 digital is expected to debut with several new auto-focus digital R zooms though we understand these will not be "backward"- compatible with R film bodies.  No date is yet projected for the introduction of the Leica R10.
